Nexas Quartet presents Australian music for saxophone quartet, continuing the exploration begun with its album Current. The programme brings together works by Carl Vine, Gerard Brophy, Anne Cawrse, Natalie Williams and Tim Dargaville, considering technology, identity, environment, communication and change as forces in motion. It includes Williams’ Catharsis, shaped by rupture and renewal; Vine’s jagged Sawtooth; Brophy’s Mountains of Tongues, which explores language and communication; and Cawrse’s soaring Kyrie. Michael Duke plays soprano saxophone, Andrew Smith alto, Nathan Henshaw tenor and Jay Byrnes baritone.
