Nordic experimental folk collective Heilung present live rituals built around throat singing, bone instruments, reconstructed Iron Age costumes and an onstage army of warriors. Producer Christopher Juul, singer-songwriter and shaman Kai Uwe Faust, and vocalist Maria Franz draw lyrical inspiration from runic texts and artefacts. Their soundscapes incorporate sources ranging from bronze weapons to running water, a practice the group calls “amplified history.”
