José González returns to the Sydney Opera House with his latest album, Against the Dying Light. The concert centres on its reflective songs about technology, modern life and the continuing need for human connection, with gentle rhythms and melodic folk writing that seek optimism amid uncertainty. González’s live sound draws on intricate fingerpicked guitar, folk-rooted songwriting and softly expressive vocals. His body of work includes Veneer, Our Nature, Vestiges & Claws and Local Valley, combining folk with classical colour and understated indie pop.
