Rufus Wainwright’s Dream Requiem receives its Australian premiere with conductor Benjamin Northey, Sydney Philharmonia Choirs and Sydney Children’s Choir. The work brings together Byron’s apocalyptic poem Darkness and the Requiem Mass in a score for narrator, soprano, choir and orchestra. Written during the pandemic, it reflects on people lost, the absence of human touch and togetherness, and a world being damaged by humanity. Rufus Wainwright will not perform in these concerts.
