The Australian Chamber Orchestra performs Johann Sebastian Bach’s St John Passion, an account of the final days of Jesus’ life that moves through friendship, betrayal, grief, hope, death and life. Richard Tognetti directs the performance, joined by Belgian vocal ensemble Vox Luminis under artistic director Lionel Meunier and tenor Florian Sievers. The programme presents Bach’s devotional choral work as a dramatic musical narrative, with the Orchestra and vocal forces bringing its sacred text and human drama to the Concert Hall.
