Persian-Australian composer and tar player Hamed Sadeghi gives a solo recital centred on the long-necked, plucked tar. Drawing on the Radif, the extensive body of melodic frameworks that forms the repertoire of Persian classical music, he explores the instrument’s lyrical, resonant character and incorporates improvisation throughout. The programme connects the instrument and musical tradition Sadeghi learned in Iran with his artistic life in Australia.
