Lady Sings the Blues

Come and witness the songs and melodies of the great Billie Holiday, performed by Australian jazz vocalist Tiana Young.

Lady Sings the Blues honours the life, legacy, and music of Billie Holiday. An extraordinary and influential figure in the world of jazz, Holiday’s artistry, resilience, and timeless repertoire continue to inspire generations of musicians and audiences

alike. This show celebrates her enduring impact by bringing her iconic music and remarkable story to life.

Led by two of Australia’s emerging jazz artists, Tiana Young and James, the project brings together a shared passion for storytelling, swing, and improvisation. Both artists have already built impressive performing careers, appearing alongside

acclaimed Australian jazz musicians including Judy Bailey, Kevin Hunt, Dale Barlow, Julien Wilson, and James Bowers.

In addition to interpreting classic repertoire, Tiana and James are active contributors to Australia’s contemporary jazz scene through their original music and collaborative

With Lady Sings the Blues, the duo pay tribute not only to the enduring artistry of Billie Holiday, but also to the living lineage of jazz itself—bringing together classic repertoire and a fresh new generation of Australian jazz musicians in an intimate
