Herbal-Infused Chocolate Workshop

with Elena from The Purple Peony & Marion from Paheko

Join us for a hands-on two-hour workshop exploring the beautiful connection between cacao, herbs and mushrooms.

Together with Elena from The Purple Peony, you’ll discover the process of working with cacao and creating chocolate, while Marion, a qualified herbalist from Paheko, will introduce you to a selection of herbs and mushrooms traditionally used for their supportive and nourishing properties.

We’ll explore how different botanicals can be paired with cacao — looking at their flavours, qualities and traditional uses — before getting hands-on and creating our own herbal-infused cacao drink and chocolate.

You’ll have the opportunity to taste, experiment and learn in a relaxed, intimate setting, with plenty of time for conversation and questions.

You’ll experience:

  • An introduction to cacao and herbal infusions
  • Exploring adaptogenic herbs and medicinal mushrooms
  • Learning about their traditional uses and flavour profiles
  • Making own herbal-infused cacao drink
  • Creating chocolate with herbs and/or mushrooms
  • Tasting cacao and botanical combinations
  • Taking home something you have made yourself

A special opportunity to slow down, connect with plants and cacao, and explore new ways of enjoying chocolate.

Your facilitators:

Marion — Paheko
Marion co-founded Paheko, a registered charitable trust based in Northland, New Zealand, dedicated to helping people reclaim ownership of their health and vitality through growing herbs. Paheko's gardens are cultivated using permaculture principles — working in harmony with nature to create diversity, resilience, and abundance. Marion is a medicinal herb gardener and an herbalist, currently completing further study in plant medicine, bringing both traditional growing knowledge and an evidence-based lens to this workshop.

Elena - Purple Peony

Elena is an Auckland-based Iyengar yoga teacher and the founder of The Purple Peony, a small-batch chocolate business built on real, bean-to-bar chocolate. Her chocolate journey began four years ago, drawn to the idea of working with the whole cacao bean and preserving everything good about it, rather than the shortcuts most commercial chocolate takes.

She continues to actively teach yoga and make chocolate side by side, one practice never paused for the other. At the centre of both is the same question: what do we actually feel, in the body and beyond, when we slow down enough to notice, whether that's holding a pose or tasting a single piece of chocolate.

2 hours | Investment: $89 per person (including the chocolate you'll make).
Limited places available.
