with Jasmine Hayes

Sunday 18 October 2026

10pm-3pm

$195/$185 Members

Learning different pottery-decorating techniques gives you greater confidence and creative freedom when finishing your work. By experimenting with colour, pattern, texture and imagery, you can transform simple ceramic forms into distinctive pieces that reflect your individual style and personality.

During this hands-on workshop with educator and ceramic artist Jasmine Hayes, you will discover creative ways to decorate your pottery using underglaze transfers and a range of complementary surface-design techniques. You will learn practical methods for applying, arranging and combining decorative elements to create balanced and visually engaging designs.

You will explore:

How to correctly apply underglaze transfers

Different ways to arrange, layer and combine designs

Additional surface-design techniques that complement transfers

How to use colour, pattern, texture and imagery effectively

Ways to develop your own decorative style.

What to bring on the day

Bring your own pottery pieces to decorate and enjoy the opportunity to experiment with new techniques in a supportive and creative setting.

If you intend to bring leather-hard or bone-dry pottery, please transport your pieces securely in a suitable container to protect them from drying out, cracking or becoming damaged. Bone-dry pottery is particularly fragile and should be carefully wrapped and supported during transport.

This workshop is suitable for beginners, hobby potters and anyone wanting to expand their pottery-decorating skills. You will leave with practical knowledge, greater confidence and fresh ideas for adding personality to your ceramic work.
