Inspired by one of Brazil's most notorious real-life robberies, A Very Brazilian Heist revisits the events of 1987, when Londrina came to a standstill as seven men, armed with plenty of nerve and almost no plan, stormed the Banestado bank, the city's largest branch. With more than 300 hostages inside and the police at the door, a city in the grip of an economic crisis did the unthinkable: it rooted for the robbers.
