Get Handy – Beginners DIY & Home Repairs Workshop | Melbourne 19th September

Sat 19 Sep 8:45am - 3pm

16 Enterprise Way, Melbourne

Sick of waiting around for a tradie to hang a shelf?

This is our most popular workshop for a reason. One full day, totally hands-on, and built for people who've never touched a power tool in their life. By 3pm you'll know how to use the gear properly, safely, and with confidence.

No experience required. No judgement. Just real skills you'll use for the rest of your life.

What you'll learn:

The most common toolbox tools and how to actually use them

Screws and fixings - what to use and when

Drills and drill bits, sorted

Different types of structural timber

3 common hardwoods

The power drill and impact driver - the two tools every home needs

How to measure up and spec out your own project

Get hands-on with:

Measuring and cutting your own materials with a hand saw

Building a small woodworking project from scratch

Fixing into timber, plasterboard and masonry walls

By the end of the day, you'll be able to:

Hang a picture frame properly (and have it stay up)

Put up shelves

Fix almost anything to almost any wall

Handle minor repairs around the house

Build basic timber projects

Use hand and power tools with real confidence

This workshop is also the pre-requisite for all our other Get Handy courses - so if you're keen to go further (Power Tools, Carpentry, Tiling, Flat Pack Kitchens), this is where it starts.

Who's it for?

Renters, homeowners, renovators - anyone who's ever stood in front of a Bunnings wall of drills feeling completely lost. All genders, all ages, all skill levels (or lack thereof). You don't need to know a thing.

Your trainer:

Led by Get Handy's qualified trade trainers — the same crew behind 30 years of real building, carpentry and renovation experience. We don't do boring theory. We hand you the tools and show you exactly what to do.

What to bring:

Closed-toe shoes and clothes you don't mind getting a bit dusty. We'll supply everything else.
