Mixed Gender Woodcarving/Whittling

Sat 7 Nov 2pm - 5pm

Women on the Tools Workshop, Perth

This 3 hour course will introduce you to whittling, using knives and hand tools. Whittling is the craft of removing wood to create shapes and sculptures. It is a relaxing, mindful pastime and a great introduction to wood crafts and tool skills. This is a great skill set to learn if you don’t have the space, time or money for a larger workshop and lots of expensive tools. All you need is a knife and a comfortable chair.

At the end of this course you’ll go home with a sweet, little palm sized duck.

What you’ll learn -

A basic understanding of wood grains and types of wood.

Knife and carving safety

Whittling knife techniques for carving.

How to hand sand

What to wear:

Sturdy pair of closed in shoes, weather appropriate old clothes you won't mind getting dirty

What is provided:

All required tools and materials are supplied
