Tempo Dance Festival presents

SEKI

How do we look after what we’ve made? How do we maintain the things we hold close, our relationships, and ourselves, in order to keep going? A love letter to family and a meditation on survival, care and maintenance.

Set in a wasteland in an alternate present, a man searches for machinery hoping to build something that will help him become seki.

Originally premiering as part of Shifting Centre's arts festival CIVIC, SEKI makes its return for its Tāmaki Makaurau premiere as part of Tempo Dance Festival. SEKI is the debut solo dance work by Te Whanganui-a-Tara based artist Sefa Tunupopo. This work offers a glimpse into ideas that have been slowly unfolding since 2024. SEKI is a love letter to family and a meditation on survival, care, and maintenance.
