What: Free public exhibition sharing personal experiences of mental health through photography, short film and music.

Visit the Out From The Mist 2026 exhibition, showcasing the finalists of our international arts competition dedicated to exploring experiences of mental health challenges.

Each work offers a different perspective; from moments of struggle and uncertainty to connection, hope, and everything in between. Together, the exhibition creates space for honest storytelling and a deeper understanding of what living with mental health challenges can look and feel like.

Now in its eighth year, Out From The Mist provides a platform for artists around the world to share authentic stories that build understanding around mental health.

What's on display:

Approximately 40 photography works from artists around the globe

Selected short films and musical pieces from the competition

Written statements accompanying artworks that share the artists explanations of their work

Whether you have lived experience, support someone who does, or simply appreciate art that says something real, this exhibition offers a moving and thought-provoking look at mental health through the eyes of artists worldwide.

This exhibition is presented as part of Queensland Mental Health Week, hosted by Mental Illness Fellowship of Australia (MIFA) and supported by the Queensland Mental Health Commission.

Venue is wheelchair accessible via alternate entrance

Free parking at Montague Markets shopping centre (corner of Montague Rd & Ferry Rd, entry via Tondara Lane) — a 300m walk to the venue. Limited street parking also available.

Public transport: Route 60 CityGlider bus to Montague Rd at Raven St, Stop 12 — a 400m walk to the venue.
