THE BELL

The last Friday of the month at Coorabell Hall on Bundjalung Country is a gathering to celebrate creativity, connection and community while experiencing world-class music, theatre, comedy and storytelling.

Some places seem to carry their own kind of magic. Perched high in the hills overlooking Byron Bay and looking towards Wollumbin, Coorabell Hall has long been one of those places—a hall where music has echoed through timber walls, friendships have begun over shared meals, and community has gathered beneath some of the most beautiful sunsets on the Northern NSW coast.

THE BELL is curated by Full On Theatre and Follow Your Heart Entertainment. Inspired by the spirit of Coorabell itself, THE BELL is a simple invitation: to gather, to listen, to laugh, to reflect, and to rediscover the richness of our community through the stories we share.

Like the ringing of a town bell or a church bell, the name speaks of a call—not to agreement, but to connection. In a time when it can feel easier to retreat into our own circles, THE BELL celebrates curiosity, creativity and the many different voices that make our region such a vibrant place to live.

The evening begins after the Coorabell Hall Curry and Games Night, so guests are warmly invited to arrive early, enjoy a delicious meal, play a few games, and then settle in for an unforgettable night of entertainment.

Friday 28 August premieres this special event—by locals and for locals.

Mitch King, a Bundjalung Widjabul Wia-bal man, opens the evening with spoken word, storytelling, rap, dance and music alongside his special guests.

Local acclaimed multidisciplinary artist Andy Jans-Brown has built a reputation for emotional honesty, poetic storytelling and thoughtful reflections on contemporary life across music, film, theatre and visual art. Over a career spanning more than three decades, he has shared stages with artists including Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Portugal. The Man and The Preatures, and has recently released his fifth studio album, Airport Departure Lounge. His warmth, humour and humanity promise a special night of connection.

The night is MC'd by Dave Houston—comedian, clown and theatre maker—who lives so close to the hall he can walk home.

There will also be community artists, singer-songwriters and a stand-up comedian performing shorter sets and supporting the featured professionals, creating barrels of laughter and heART.

Whether you're a lifelong local or new to the area, THE BELL is an opportunity to gather with neighbours, meet new people, and celebrate the extraordinary creativity that already exists within our own community.

Come early for Curry & Games Night before the performance.
