The Canterbury Philharmonia is excited to introduce our final concert for 2026.
Under the baton of the Orchestra’s permanent Music Director and Conductor Mark Hodgkinson, the Philharmonic will perform some significantly grand repertoire.
• Verdi: Prelude to ‘Un ballo in maschera’
• Henry Lawes: The Masque of Comus
• Thomas Arne: Rule Britannia
• Nielsen: Maskarade Overture
• Prokofiev: Romeo and Juliet Suite 1 (movements 2, 3 and 5)
• Horner: Mask of Zorro
• Khachaturian: Waltz and Galop from the Masquerade Suite
• Lloyd Webber: Phantom of the Opera selections
• Beaujoyeulx: Ballet Comique de la Reine
And yes - our concert is at Show Weekend; this concert is a great way to conclude a long weekend here in the city.
Established in 1952, the Canterbury Philharmonic Orchestra is the longest established recreational orchestra in Christchurch Ōtautahi.
