Dance Leads to Chaos — Magandjin / Brisbane
A community-engaged dance work by Bring A Plate Inclusive Dance Company & The First Creatives.
Dance Leads to Chaos is an artistic exploration that invites us to question the significance of dance in our lives.
Inspired by historic restrictions on dance and artistic expression from around the world, the work draws on Australians’ recent experience of COVID-19 dance restrictions, while reminding us that restrictions on dance and gathering have a much longer and brutal history for First Nations people in this country.
Moving across contemporary, cultural and street dance forms, Dance Leads to Chaos brings professional dance artists and a large community cast together in a call to return to our basic human need to move, gather and express ourselves — led by the oldest living culture in the world.
Part dance work, part public service announcement, it creates a space to reflect on what is lost when we can’t dance — and what happens when we come together again.
Following its 2025 pilot, Dance Leads to Chaos returns in its full-scale form at South Bank Piazza, before touring to the Sunshine Coast and Cairns.
Expect dance, storytelling, music and projection — and yes, probably a little chaos.
