Connect: An Embodied Exploration of Movement, Nature and Place

Thu 1 Oct 11am - 2:30pm

Restless Dance Theatre, Adelaide

This workshop offers a unique opportunity to explore our relationship with nature through movement, connection and embodied play. Led by Restless Dance Theatre, participants will be invited to slow down, observe their surroundings and discover new ways of moving through and responding to the natural environment. Rather than simply observing nature, the workshop encourages participants to experience the landscape through their bodies.

Walking through the park, participants will explore movement prompts inspired by texture, rhythm, sound, natural patterns and the environment around them.

The workshop is playful, curious and welcoming, with no previous dance experience required. The workshop offers a different way to connect with the natural world, one that is sensory, embodied and grounded in personal experience. It encourages participants to become more aware of their bodies, their surroundings and the ways these two things interact.

Accessibility and inclusion are central to the workshop. Activities can be adapted to different bodies and ways of participating, with options for walking, standing, seated or stationary movement. Participants will be encouraged to engage at their own pace, with no expectation of physical ability or dance experience. By bringing together contemporary dance, nature and inclusive practice, the workshop creates an opportunity for people of all abilities to experience the landscape in a new way.

Participants will meet at Restless Dance Theatre (195 Gilles Street Adelaide), then proceed to Osmond Gardens/ Peppermint Park all together.
