CONTEMPORARY TUKUTUKU

Explore patterns • Share stories • Create together

Discover the traditional Māori art of tukutuku in a welcoming, Māori-led creative workshop with Whare Hau Ako.

Learn about the cultural significance, symbolism and stories behind traditional tukutuku patterns, then design and create your own contemporary panel using an acrylic tukutuku board and contemporary weaving materials.

Explore pattern, whakapapa and storytelling through mahi toi while enjoying a relaxed, hands-on creative experience alongside others.

No previous experience is needed — just bring your curiosity and a willingness to give something new a go!

Come as you are and enjoy an opportunity to create, connect and celebrate Māori art and culture.
