The Greatness of Griffin and the Magic of Mahony
For one week only, Newman College at the University of Melbourne will open its doors to the public for a landmark festival celebrating the 150th anniversary of the birth of Walter Burley Griffin and honouring the remarkable achievements of his wife and creative partner, Marion Mahony Griffin.
Through guided tours, lectures, music, cultural events and commemorative ceremonies, visitors will experience the architecture, landscapes, artistry and ideals that continue to define the College more than a century after its foundation.
Whether you are a long-time admirer of the Griffins' work or discovering their legacy for the first time, we invite you to be part of this unique commemorative week as we honour 150 years of vision, creativity and enduring influence.
Celebrate the past. Inspire the future. Preserve the legacy.
