Sat 19 Sep 2pm - 4pm
This September, Joyce Robin will have her first ever solo show at our Collingwood Yard’s Gallery and will be in travelling down from the Lands to be in attendance for the opening event on Saturday September 19, 2-4pm.
Joyce is a much-respected senior artist within the Kaltjiti Arts Centre. As a painter, director and mentor Joyce sits well within the Fregon community and the APY community more broadly. Her role as an intergenerational leader and advisor is much respected.
Through layered, rhythmic linework and deliberate dotting techniques applied with a traditional punu (wooden stick), Joyce maps her ancestral geography and the Tjukurpa (Dreaming) stories passed down by her mother, Tinpulya Mervin.
These stories are about the sacred land in Watarru and pay homage to the vital water networks which have always been essential to Anangu’s (people’s) physical and spiritual survival.
Come to our opening event and have an opportunity to witness these powerful works and speak to Joyce herself – on Saturday the 19th of September at 2-4pm. RSVP to secure your chance to meet Joyce and celebrate her solo show.
For more from Kaltjiti Arts Centre, our Docklands Gallery will be holding a Kaltjiti Arts Group Show. Opening night is Friday 18th of September 5-7pm with artists from the Lands in attendance.
