WHATS GOING ON HERE...
Sherry/Jerez is historically one of the most famous and popular wine regions in Europe. However, as fortified wines have fallen out of favour, it has become better known as a source of barrels for Whisky.
Thankfully this has started to change as a new generation of winemakers move towards making wines without fortification, a style known locally as Vino de Pasto
Vino de Pasto is the traditional non-fortified wines of the region. These are the same base wines for Sherry, however made as vintage wines without the addition of alcohol (fortification). Like Sherry, some of these wines are be aged under flor (a layer of yeast that gives Fino Sherry its classic aroma).
For this event we will be taking a look at mostly non-fortified with some fortified wines.
