Friends visit to Blairgowrie: Imants Tillers’ studio and Jennifer Slatyer’s gar…

Sat 24 Oct 1:30pm - 4:30pm

Blairgowrie, Canberra

We are thrilled to share that the Friends of Drill Hall Gallery have been invited for a tour of Imants Tillers' studio and Jennifer Slatyer's gardens in Cooma.

For almost 30 years 'Blairgowrie' has been the Tiller/Slatyer family home. The property, with its timeless cottage garden informality, and the sprawling weather board cottage were established long before Jenny and Imants’ ownership. A magical display of both evergreen and deciduous trees, shrubs and flowers, the garden is curated through Jenny’s ongoing tending and keen eye for landscape design. Nestled within the idyllic greenery is the architecturally designed stone studio of internationally renowned painter Imants Tillers. With a practice spanning over 50 years, Tillers is known for his stylised appropriations, poetically combining existing artworks, philosophy and literature as ‘ready-made’ motifs is his practice.

Following the tour, we will enjoy a lovely afternoon tea in the garden.

Attendees will need to organise their own transport for the entire trip. If you would like to offer transport to another Friend of Drill Hall Gallery, or you need someone to travel with, email our Friends Coordinator Olivia and she can try to pair your up if there is availability.
