Dress the Drawing: Inside the FOOL clothing design process

Sat 5 Dec 1pm - 4pm

Australian Tapestry Workshop, Melbourne

Join fashion designer Pep Doolan for an inside look at the FOOL clothing design process. Discover Pep’s approach to design and learn how to apply these ideas to your own garment concept. Perfect for anyone interested in fashion design.

Through a behind-the-scenes presentation of Pep’s work, you’ll discover how ideas develop from two-dimensional artwork into three-dimensional garments, gaining insight into the creative decisions that shape a finished design.

You’ll then develop your own garment silhouette and layer your artwork and selected fabrics onto it through collage. You’ll experiment with print placement and composition, considering the question: Does the artwork change when someone wears it?

Skill level: No experience necessary. Ages 18+

Materials: All materials supplied.

Pep Doolan is a Melbourne-based fashion designer working with clothing label FOOL, where they design prints and graphics for garments. Having studied Fashion Design at RMIT, Pep’s creative practice spans fashion, costume and digital print. Their approach to design begins with works of art that are transformed into garments, exploring the interwoven relationship between art and fashion, texture and colour.
