Literature and Clay
Nothing has been better to break my patterns of perfectionism than pottery.
It kind of makes sense if you think about it. Clay needs us to be adaptable, relaxed, and we can’t control all aspects of the outcome.
Clay is a living, unpredictable medium shaped by chemistry, fire, and human error.
In the chosen literature of this month: The Guest by Emma Cline we follow the story of Alex as she tries to look smooth, polished, and perfect to fit into the Hamptons. While in reality she is hiding a messy, chaotic, and desperate experience underneath.
Instead of only discussing how embracing our messy sides or letting go of control, we thought it would be amazing to experience it through: clay.
Together we will discuss the themes of the book while hand building beautiful ceramic pieces of our own.
In collaboration with Claydeli (ceramics queen) we offer you Literature and Clay:
8th of November 2026
3pm - 5pm
Craft and Soul - Manly
If you haven't had the time or space to read, but you feel the invitation to join, please do so. We will be discussing the themes from the book which does not require you to have read it to contribute.
This event welcomes you solo or together because we believe there is always space for everyone. Together we will be enjoying nourishing drinks and heartwarming bites but mostly each other's company.
