Movement of the Human and Auckland Live present
Tōrua
Acclaimed choreographer and director Malia Johnston (Belle – A Performance of Air, Auckland Arts Festival) returns with Tōrua, a captivating immersive urban dance experience.
Performed by an outstanding ensemble of dance artists including Sefa Tunupopo, Xin Ji, Jemima Smith, Ella Williams, Veronica Lyu, Andre Busby, Petronilla Su'a, Montell Nickel and Nate Gacusan.
This extraordinary work unfolds over two weekends in October. Through movement, music and place, the audience (re)discovers the spaces around two of Auckland's newest city landmarks - Karanga-a-Hape Station and Te Waihorotiu Station.
Book a headset in advance to immerse yourself in the dual soundscape by Anna Edgington and Eden Mulholland (Ngāti Porou).
“Tōrua is magic conjured on the streets… An intricate gift for all who choose to engage.”
— Lyne Pringle, Theatreview
“The work feels instinctual, spiritual, a poignant moment in a backdrop of urban business…. ”
