Geelong Waterfront: Layers of History, Design and Change

Sat 3 Oct 11am - 12:15pm

Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre, Geelong

This panel explores how the Geelong Waterfront has evolved over time, from Wadawurrung Country and its early history through to the industrial waterfront, its decline, and the significant renewal that transformed the area in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Speakers will share insights into this period of change, including the role of State Government investment and strong design leadership in shaping the waterfront we know today.

The discussion will also examine recent projects, including Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre, before turning to the City of Greater Geelong's current Waterfront Master Plan and the next stage of transformation.

Reflecting on lessons from the past, the panel will explore the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead for one of Victoria's most significant waterfront precincts.
