AMERICAS IN CONCERT presents TANGO VIVO

An intimate evening of live tango — elegant, expressive and full of emotion.

Latin Events Welly, in association with Karori Business Association, invites you to the first edition of Americas in Concert, a new live music series bringing distinctive musical traditions from across the Americas to intimate venues in Wellington.

For this opening concert, Tango Vivo brings the sound and emotion of Argentine tango to Karori in a close and atmospheric live performance.

The evening will feature a 60-minute seated concert, focused on the music itself — expressive melodies, rich arrangements and the distinctive character of tango performed live.

Whether tango is already part of your musical world or you are discovering it for the first time, this concert offers an opportunity to experience its elegance, intensity and emotion up close.

ABOUT TANGO VIVO

Tango Vivo is a Wellington-based Argentine tango ensemble formed in 2021. The group grew from a collaboration between Argentine musicians and Wellington-based performers who share a commitment to traditional tango, authentic interpretation and high-quality live performance.

For this concert, Tango Vivo will perform a selection of tangos, milongas and valses, featuring voice, violin, piano and double bass. The repertoire includes well-known works such as Nostalgias, Poema, Pucherito de Gallina, Nada, Romance de Barrio, Como Dos Extraños and Se Dice de Mí.

Marilyn Mansilla — Vocals

Performer and singing teacher, well known within New Zealand’s Latin American community.

Christine Watson — Violin

Professionally trained musician with extensive performance experience.

Irena De — Piano

Pianist, teacher and dance rehearsal accompanist.

Bill Vella — Double Bass

Experienced bassist who has performed with a range of bands and musical projects.

Tango Vivo has performed at the Wellington Tango Festival, New Zealand Tango Festival and Conference, Wellington Gardens Magic, the opening of Wellington’s first Latin Market, and other community and cultural events across the Wellington region.

Americas in Concert is a live music series created by Latin Events Welly to present artists and musical traditions from across the Americas in welcoming, intimate settings.

Each edition will feature a different artist or ensemble, while keeping the same focus: quality live music, cultural connection and the experience of sharing a performance together.
