Creative Journalling Studio: Techniques, Layouts & Play

Want to use your creative supplies more confidently — or get ideas about what to do with all that cute stationery you just picked up at the New Zealand Stationery Festival?

This two-hour hands-on workshop gives you room to experiment and play. Whether you’re just getting started or already journal creatively and want some new ideas, this workshop is designed so you can work at your own level.

Mira will be bring a range of stamps from her personal stash for you to play and learn with. You will work through a wide range of stamping techniques from the fundamentals all the way to layering, masking and shaping. You will also look at simple layout structures that can help turn a collection of supplies into a page that feels intentional rather than intimidating.

Full of tips, tricks and techniques to expand the repertoire of all stationery lovers, come and join us to get inspired and have some creative fun.

You will have access to a curated range of shared stamps, inks, washi tape and PET tape, with generous loose sheets of MD paper for testing ideas before committing them to a journal. The aim is not for everyone to copy one perfect spread: it is to build a small library of experiments and discover techniques and page structures you can reuse in your own style.

Participants will leave with:

Two sheets of custom stickers

A packet of the layouts and techniques you made in class

Key points to remember on a handout

Please bring a pen and scissors, plus your own notebook if you would like to work in it (optional, not required).

About Mira

Mira Bradshaw has been exploring creative planning, stamping and journalling for more than a decade. A lifelong paper-and-pen enthusiast, she moved through decorative planning, travellers notebooks and bullet journalling before developing a creative daily journalling practice focused on memory-keeping, reflection and making ordinary life worth noticing.

Her own practice continues to evolve across daily, media and commonplace journalling, with photo journalling the next area she is exploring. She brings a practical, low-pressure approach to creative journalling: learn the tools, understand what works for you, and let the practice evolve.

By day, Mira leads data and technology for an FMCG company; outside work she is an enthusiastic collector and user of stamps, fountain pens, inks, washi tape and other paper supplies whether intended for journalling or not.

Venue

Our venue is inside Cobblestones Museum. The paths to the classroom are stone-chip but the workshop space is on the ground level.

Refund policy

Due to the bespoke nature of these classes and limited capacity we do not offer refunds. You are however welcome to pass your ticket onto someone else if you can't attend.

· · ·

You do not need a Stationery Festival ticket to attend a workshop. Workshop-only ticket holders will be met at the entry gate by a Workshop Host, 15 minutes before class begins and escorted to the workshop. You can shop with the vendors after class but to keep classes on time for everyone you will not be able to shop before your class begins.

Tickets to classes do not include a Stationery Festival tote bag.

If you do want a Festival ticket along with your workshop ticket, do not worry if you can't get a time-entry ticket that is before your class begins - if you have a class ticket AND a Festival ticket we will honour whichever is the earliest.
