The Sorcerer's Apprentice invites audiences of all ages on a magical storytelling adventure, perfect for young people and families. Featuring a live narrator and chamber orchestra, this enchanting performance follows an eager apprentice whose attempt to use magic without guidance quickly spirals into an unforgettable adventure.
As the chaos unfolds, audiences discover themes of courage, responsibility and wisdom through a captivating tale. Composer Ryley Gillen's original score draws inspiration from Paul Dukas' iconic symphonic poem, famously featured in Disney's Fantasia, while honouring the spirit of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's 18th century poem.
Rich orchestral music, engaging narration and a fresh retelling of this timeless story create a memorable live concert experience that sparks imagination and introduces audiences to the excitement of orchestral music.

About the Artists
The Sorcerer's Apprentice is brought to life by acclaimed queer conductor and composer Ryley Gillen in collaboration with the Australian Queer Orchestra (AQO).
Dedicated to creating exceptional musical experiences while celebrating diversity, the AQO is made up of LGBTQIA+ musicians and allies who share a passion for connection, creativity and artistic excellence.
Under Gillen's direction, the orchestra presents a fresh interpretation of this beloved tale, blending vibrant orchestral music with engaging storytelling to create an experience that is both entertaining and accessible for young and family audiences.

Randwick Town Hall is located on the ground floor at 90 Avoca Street, Randwick.
The main entrance is via double doors located on Frances Street. From this entrance there are 8 steps with handrails to reach the hall.
There is a wheelchair accessible entry via the carpark on Avoca Street. There is an accessible car park located on Frances Street.
