Juno is proud to present If You Listen, You Might Hear, an exhibition and fundraiser showcasing the creativity and perspectives of women, trans, and gender-diverse people connected with Juno and Women and Mentoring (WAM).
Developed through a series of facilitated writing workshops led by author and survivor advocate Sonia Orchard, the exhibition brings together works shaped by participants’ experiences, reflections, and imaginations. It creates space for people who have experienced family violence, homelessness, incarceration and other forms of adversity to share their stories on their own terms, shifting the focus away from defining people by those experiences and towards recognising their individuality, creativity, insight, and agency.
If You Listen, You Might Hear recognises lived experience and the power of creative expression to foster connection and challenge assumptions. It offers participants the opportunity to see their work valued and shared publicly, and to celebrate this achievement alongside the family, friends, organisations, and communities that have supported them.
Held during the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign, the exhibition contributes to broader conversations about gender-based violence while centring the voices and achievements of participants. It creates space for connection, recognition, and pride, seeing people not only for what they have overcome, but for what they create, share, and bring to the world.
The exhibition will also raise critical funds to support Juno’s ongoing work providing practical assistance to people in our community experiencing significant hardship.
