Storytime for Grown-Ups (A 'Picture Book' Book Club)

Tue 13 Oct 6pm - 7:30pm

The Little Bookroom, Melbourne

If history is anything to go by, adults appreciate and laud both art and poetry.

Picture books are poetry and art combined in a tome you can keep and revisit. They are not exclusively for childhood and at The Little Bookroom we believe in their relevance at every age and stage of life.

Story Time For Grown-Ups is a book club where you don't need to have read the book before you turn up!

We'll share a drink, read 3 or 4 carefully chosen picture books together and then discuss them with all the consideration they deserve. We'll talk about how they work, what storytelling techniques they're using, how they succeed as read aloud or read alone texts, and how much can be achieved in (usually) 32 pages.

There are 2 dates for Term 4, we'll be reading the same books at each event, so you only need to book for one:

Tuesday 13th October

Wednesday 28th October

6pm - 7:30pm

Tickets are $25 (plus booking fee) and include $25 instore credit to spend on the night.

We've capped each night to 20 tickets to ensure the chance for discussion.

Picture books are for everybody at any age, not books to be left behind as we grow older. The best ones leave a tantalising gap between the pictures and the words, a gap that is filled by the reader's imagination, adding so much to the excitement of reading a book.
