Fusion jazz

Decorum is a six-piece fusion jazz band based in Sydney, drawing on influences including Janek Gwizdala, Joshua Redman, Hiatus Kaiyote, Jaco Pastorius and Casiopea. The band blends instrumental jazz tunes that showcase each member's musicianship within a modern jazz sound reminiscent of the current UK jazz scene, alongside vocal tracks that lean into an R&B/soul-jazz blend with groove-driven songwriting and unexpected turns.

Between them, the members bring years of formal jazz training and performance experience: Taylan trained at the Newcastle Conservatorium; Ben and Blake studied jazz at the Sydney Conservatorium; James studied at AIM and is well known around the city for his organ playing and straight-ahead jazz work; and Riley has studied jazz for over a decade under Ashley Turner.
