Bizet’s Carmen is presented in a new production directed by Laura Hansford. Set in the opera’s original 1825 Seville setting through a maximalist-surrealist lens, it centres on Carmen’s autonomy and the tragic love story shaped by desire, jealousy and freedom. The production features Charlotte Kelso as Carmen, Samuel Dale Johnson as Escamillo, and Gerard Schneider as Don José. The performance runs for approximately three hours, including a 20-minute interval.
