Introduction to Oil Painting

A Two-Day Creative Workshop

Join me for a weekend immersed in the beautiful world of oil painting at my Mullumbimby studio.

Over two days, we'll explore the fundamentals of oil painting, learning how to work with this rich and versatile medium while developing a painting of your own.

Whether you've always wanted to try oils or have experimented a little and would love some guidance, this workshop is an opportunity to build confidence, learn new skills and enjoy the process of creating.

We'll explore:

Understanding oil paints, mediums and materials

Choosing brushes and exploring different brush techniques

Colour theory, mixing oils and creating a palette

Gathering inspiration and developing an idea for your painting

Composition, sketching and making your first marks

Building layers, exploring light, shadow, texture and form

Developing and refining your artwork over two days

There will be demonstrations, step-by-step guidance and plenty of space for individual exploration, allowing you to work from your own inspiration while learning practical techniques along the way.

The intention is for everyone to leave with a completed painting, a greater understanding of the medium and the confidence to continue exploring oil painting independently.

Held in a small, supportive group, with all painting materials supplied.

No previous oil painting experience necessary. Just a curiosity to create!
