“breathtaking mastery of intent, understanding and execution throughout” – Middle C
After a highly successful Auckland/Northland tour the Korimako Trio are coming to Martinborough with an exciting new programme.
The Korimako Trio (Helene Pohl, violin; Rolf Gjelsten, cello; Michael Endres, piano) brings together three internationally renowned musicians with decades of experience who are beloved in New Zealand for their powerful communication as well as the intelligence of their playing.
In this concert they bring you music ranging from Zemlinsky's Trio, opus 3 ("the epitome of 1890s Vienna: lush, grand, romantic, impassioned") to the exuberance of Chopin's Introduction and Polonaise brilliante (Cello and piano), and Janacek 's dramatic Sonata for violin and piano.
The programme closes by returning to the composer who established the piano trio as a genre. Haydn's Trio in A major crowns the evening with luminous grace, wit and a joyful affirmation of music's power to delight.
