A teenage girl and her brother flee into the Outback after their father drives them there to die. A young Aboriginal man (David Gulpilil, in his screen debut) leads them across a landscape of surreal and stark beauty. A founding film of the Australian New Wave, a hallucinatory and challenging allegory, and one of the BFI’s greatest films of all time.
