Chamber Music by Brahms

Tue 10 Nov 7:30pm

Melbourne Recital Centre, Melbourne

Bask in the intimacy of Brahms.

Celebrating the great composer's prowess as writer of chamber masterpieces, Denis Kozhukhin makes his Melbourne Recital Centre debut alongside MSO Concertmaster Natalie Chee and Principal Horn Nicolas Fleury.

Since winning the Queen Elisabeth Competition at 23, Kozhukhin has captivated audiences across the globe with his 'crystalline clarity' (The Guardian) and highly celebrated performances at the Royal Concertgebouw, Carnegie Hall, and alongside the world's leading orchestras. Considered one of greatest pianists of his generation, Kozhukhin shares his 'eager sensitivity and intelligence' (Telegraph) throughout Brahms' third piano sonata - a 35-minute work of symphonic proportion.

The combination of horn, violin and piano in Brahms' Horn Trio in E-flat was considered innovative at the time of its premiere in 1865. However nowadays, the piece is known as a tender and expressive showcase of emotion from the slowest of moments right through to the fast-paced finale.
