Disability and Neurodiversity Zine Workshop (The Exchange)

Tue 20 Oct 12:30pm - 2:30pm

Flinders University Bedford Park - The Exchange, Adelaide

Create a zine exploring lived experience, identity and storytelling in this free in-person workshop for Flinders students.

Tuesday 20 October 2026

12:30 pm to 2:30 pm

Level 0, The Hub, The Exchange, Bedford Park Campus

Disabled and neurodivergent students are centred in this workshop, with all Flinders students welcome. No previous art, writing or zine-making experience is required.

These workshops grew from a student idea about reclaiming paper as a space for disabled people to tell their own stories. Sudhashree, the student behind the project, wrote:

“As a person with disability, the only time you see a piece of paper is something another person has written about you. This is a way to reclaim that.”

The workshop will be facilitated by Dr KJ Hepworth, aka Neuroqueero, with a disability justice-informed approach that centres empowerment, accessibility, choice and care.

You’ll be able to write, draw, cut, paste, collage and experiment with zine-making in whatever way works for you. You choose what you create, how personal it is and what you share.

Materials will be provided, along with refreshments and catering.
