Just to mix it up a bit, along with poetry and live music, the next event is a DEBATE competition !

Think debating is boring? Think again.

Think of all the fun times at school seeing your classmates debate. Or that moment at every house party at 3 in the morning where everything gets a little bit philosophical and nerdy.

SlamDebate is a night of big ideas, friendly arguments, unexpected curveballs and a whole lot of fun, all happening in the cosy atmosphere of a cute bar surrounded by like-minded people.

Whether you’re someone who loves a good debate, enjoys learning through conversation, wants to test your ability to think on your feet, or just wants a fun night out, there’s something for you.

What to expect:

Get ready for lively, entertaining and thought-provoking debates, with a curveball round thrown into the mix to keep everyone on their toes. There’ll be prizes to be won, and you might even find yourself unexpectedly involved in a surprise audience participation round…

Take a break from the arguments and enjoy a musical set by Xandri, aka the pop princess of Naarm!

Towards the end of the night, we’ll open the floor to the poets. Bring something you’ve written, something you love, or simply come along and listen. MCed by the talented Slamtidote team member Dheer, these open mic pop off!

Feeling creative? Our arts and crafts table will be open throughout the night for anyone who wants to doodle, make, create, or simply keep their hands busy while the debates unfold.

Raffle tickets will be available throughout the night, with prizes up for grabs; because who doesn’t love a little bit of luck? All contributions go to Slamtidote, a registered Not For Profit!

And the best part? Tickets are Pay What You Can.
