Roy Tankersley is a renowned New Zealand organist, composer and educator. His enthusiasm for the organ and passion for church music has inspired generations.

As a music graduate of Victoria University Roy completed postgraduate studies at the Guildhall School of Music. His long and distinguished career has seen him involved in music education for over 35 years from Head of Department at Tawa College to Director of Music at Samuel Marsden Collegiate School. He is a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for his contribution to music and was granted Life Membership of the NZ Choral Federation in 2024. Most of his compositions are choral, instrumental and music theatre works for school and church use.

This concert showcasing Roy’s talents will feature both the baroque organ and the recently restored 2-manual Croft organ. Items contained in the programme comprise a wide variety of musical treats including well-known organ music by Bach, Pachelbel and Percy Fletcher.

The Wellington Organists Association is delighted to promote this event, which is sure to appeal to anybody with a love of music and an appreciation of fine musicianship.
