A rare opportunity to hear ALLY live in Sydney as they workshop new material for their upcoming album on the back of a recent tour of NZ. Enjoy two sets of music in the warm, intimate setting of Church St Studios.
ARIA-nominated ALLY brings together some of Australia’s leading jazz, Afro-Latin and world music artists, celebrating Afro-Peruvian, Afro-Cuban, Andalusian and contemporary jazz traditions. The group moves effortlessly between traditional Afro-Peruvian festejo and landó, Cuban son and rumba, Andalusian tangos and bulerías, alongside original compositions inspired by contemporary jazz.
The ensemble features saxophonist and composer Gai Bryant, legendary trombonist James Greening, pianist Ed Goyer, Peruvian percussion master Giorgio Rojas, and bassist Dave Quinn. Their performances combine virtuosic improvisation with infectious rhythms, creating a vibrant musical dialogue between African, Latin American and jazz influences.
Since 2021, ALLY has toured extensively across Australia and internationally, including appearances at Germany’s Enjoy Jazz Festivalwith Realms Beyond Borders. They have also collaborated with renowned artists including Grammy-nominated Cuban pianist Elio Villafranca and Afro-Dominican musicians Josean Jacobo and Otoniel Nicolas.
