The Stage, Town Centre Drive, Auckland

Experience the power, energy and cultural traditions of Siva Afi, Samoan fire knife dancing in this exciting interactive workshop. Learn more about this art form, its cultural significance and the skills involved in the performance. Come along, watch, learn and celebrate the richness of Pacific culture!

Delivered by Siva Afi Aotearoa who are committed to creating pathways for young people to create their own successes. Its ambition is to make Siva Afi accessible to all youth, providing opportunities to build skills, confidence and a sense of achievement, just as activities such as Hip Hop, Kapa Haka and team sports do.

Each year, Siva Afi Aotearoa produces the Siva Afi Festival, an important platform for Pacific and Māori youth, similar to events such as the ASB Secondary Schools Polyfest and Pasifika Festival. The festival celebrates and showcases the art form of Siva Afi, or Pacific fire dancing, giving young people the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and knowledge of Siva Afi Ailao.

Siva Afi Aotearoa also delivers a regular programme of community workshops, teaching the fundamental skills of Siva Afi and drumming while building the confidence, capability and connection of participants.

The Pop-Up offers a unique opportunity to embrace our community’s rich cultural heritage through arts, culture, and connection. Don’t miss out, come experience the heart and soul of our community in a welcoming and inclusive space! Check out the full programme here

The Celebrating Culture Pop-Up is proudly delivered by Arts Out East a Te Tuhi programme, generously funded by the Howick Local Board and supported by Botany Town Centre.
