The Writing Life - Janice Simpson

Fri 30 Oct 6pm - 7:30pm

Newstead Arts Hub, Bendigo

Janice Simpson will explore The Writing Life in our October session, the third local writer in our 2026 series.

Janice lives in Maryborough, a landscape for wildlife and thinking. Janice has won awards for her work and has been published in a range of magazines. Her doctoral research produced new ways of writing lyric nonfiction. Her content focused on infant adoption in Australia.

She coordinates Words in Winter Central Goldfields which brings important conversations to town as part of the three-day annual festival as well as stand-alone events. Janice is a former national convenor of Sisters in Crime. Janice is working on her fourth crime novel featuring detective characters Angela Micelli and Brendan O’Leary. The Writing Life series is an invitation to a writer to explore the role of writing in their life, perhaps riffing on particular aspects, joys and challenges. This is the third in the series.

5.30 for a 6pm start, with snacks provided and drinks at bar prices courtesy of Newstead Arts Hub.
