We’re opening the very first edition of the Shipwrecked Club Series with a true underground pioneer; Berlin-based Canadian selector, producer and label curator Mike Shannon.

Known for his cobra-quick mixing style and deeply hypnotic selections pulling from the Detroit and Chicago sound palette, Shannon has rapidly become recognised as one of the brightest names within the international underground circuit.

Mike Shannon is closely connected with the reductionist minimal movement emerging from the American Midwest, eventually orbiting the influential world surrounding Richie Hawtin’s iconic Plus 8 label. This period would help shape not only his sound, but his wider artistic vision and curatorial ambitions.

That evolution led to the creation of his labels Cynosure and Haunt Recordings - two imprints that would go on to become highly respected pillars of jazz-infused electronic minimalism and help redefine the sonic landscape of Minimal Techno over the years that followed.

A frequent collaborator with some of the genre’s most iconic artists and a strong advocate for modular synthesis and forward-thinking production techniques, Mike Shannon’s music sits in a rare space between technical precision and deeply human groove. His sets are immersive, subtle and endlessly evolving — built less around big drops and more around tension, movement and atmosphere.
