In celebration of the International Day of Sign Languages and Diversity Week at UNSW, please join us for a special screening of Deaf President Now!
This screening is brought to the community by the UNSW Disability Scholars Network, the DIIU and the Disability Collective in collaboration with UNSW FilmSoc, EDI, the Media Futures Hub and the Film Studies department of the School of Arts & Media for the 2026 UNSW Diversity Festival.
Join us for a free screening of this powerful documentary, followed by snacks and an informal panel conversation including Prof Jackie Leach Scully and Prof Alastair McEwin AM!
Auslan interpreters will be present for this inclusive event and we welcome all members of the UNSW community together with their friends and allies.

Date: Wednesday Sept 23
Time: 1pm for a 1:30pm start, finishing by 5pm

Assisted Listening / Audio Description Track (AD)
Leighton Hall has hearing assistive technology available. Patrons wishing to utilise this service must collect an Auri™ receiver from the venue staff. This system can be used with an Auricast-enabled hearing aid or cochlear implant, or with provided headphones. Please email us to let us know if you require this service!
PUBLIC TRANSPORT & PARKING
Leighton Hall (John Niland Scientia Building) is easily accessible via public transport. The closest light rail stop is the UNSW High Street (L2 line) and the closest bus stop is UNSW Gate 14, Barker Street (303). Free parking is also available in the Botany St Car Park (Gate 11) from 5.30pm. For access to free parking, event patrons must park in the UNSW Permit Holder bays, available on all levels. The Botany St Car Park (Gate 11) parking station is located here.
Paid casual and visitor parking is offered via the CellOPark App and ‘pay by plate meters’ in all other UNSW car parks. The Botany St Car Park (Gate 11) parking station is the closest to the venue, and is located here. For more information head here.
