Gong Bath-Sound Journey w/Hammocks

Sat 26 Sep 6pm - 7:30pm

The Yoga Studio, Wellington

Join Nick for this therapeutic Gong Bath to unwind from the stress of your day/week/year, while being supported and held by your choice of hammock or floor seat, to soak in the vibrations and beautiful droning sounds of three medium-large Paiste 'Planet' gongs, Tibetan 'full moon' bowls, and medium sized sound therapy instruments.

The science behind these gongs baths are: the rich harmonics of the gongs invite your body and mind to rest into deeper brainwave states, and the drones invite the nervous system to relax because the long continuous sounds say 'things are moving slowly, this is safe'. The sounds themselves are like some kind of rich, harmonic, cosmic electronic music yet primal and organic. Nick uses three medium-large Paiste 'Planet' gongs, which are tuned to a fundamental pitch, and were developed specifically for sound therapy compared to some other gongs.

Nick has been producing and playing with music since his earliest teens, having graduated from The New Zealand School of Music, and The University of Auckland in Psychology with over 4 years of work experience in experiential therapies, combining musical and therapeutic worlds with events like these throughout Wellington and the lower North Island for the past 2.5+ years. He uses Somatic Psychology informed grounding practices at the beginning and end of the session

The Yoga Studio has ample free parking and easy access via Bus Route 2 at the Marsden Village stop. The studio is up the wooden staircase which you can see when you're in the carpark. are and please arrive 5ish minutes early, so we can start at 6pm for the grounding introduction.

Please bring along anything that'll help you feel more comfortable (blankets, pillows, and bolsters come with your ticket, but you can bring along eye masks, earplugs etc if you need that).

If you live with any of these, please talk to your Doctor first, to make sure the event will be suitable:

-live with epilepsy or a sound-sensitive condition

-are in the first trimester of pregnancy

-are experiencing severe or unmanaged mental health challenges (such as psychosis, schizophrenia, or PTSD)

See you there!
