Dee Dee Bridgewater performs at the Astor Theatre with pianist Helen Sung. Bridgewater brings her individual approach to jazz standards, informed by a four-decade career spanning vocal performance and other creative work. Her recent Grammy-winning album, Eleanora Fagan (1915-1959): To Billie With Love From Dee Dee, honours Billie Holiday. Her career has included membership of the Thad Jones/Mel Lewis Big Band and performances with Max Roach, Sonny Rollins, Dexter Gordon and Dizzy Gillespie. Sung is a Guggenheim Fellow and former Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Performance fellow whose collaborators include Wayne Shorter and Wynton Marsalis.
