A monthly environmental movie club and casual meet up, for film fans and the climate conscious. Watch the films, have a chat and meet new people. Open to all!
Enviro Film Club is a monthly series of cosy screenings, where we'll watch movies that care about the planet and then hang out afterwards to talk about them. A laid-back community event, open to all - no cinema or environmental knowledge required. Come for the films, stay for the chats!
These screenings offer a unique opportunity to watch a wide range of environmental cinema, explore our place in the wider world, and connect with new friends.
The program include docos, fiction, shorts, animation, and even a Hollywood retrospective or two, brought to you by local volunteer group Environmental Films Australia.
16:00 | Elsewhere Starts Here And It's All Happening (2022)
Elsewhere Starts Here And It's All Happening (Darik Janik, 2022) is a funny, meandering documentary that wants to take you on a walk.
Join in on the contemplative journey of a painter and a photographer as they wander aimlessly through the Victorian bush, looking at trees and for people to paint with.
Followed by a Q&A with filmmaker Darik Janik and EFA Programming Chair Simon Troon.

Public Transport: 11 Tram Line and 250/251 bus route.
The cinema is at the back of Champagne Video Bar. The cinema has a projector, screen and speakers, with a small bank of cinema-tiered seating and a soft couch near the front. The seating capacity is 29.
The bar is small, with dark maroon walls and low lighting. They play music in the front areas and have different areas for seating, including booths, open tables and a second room between the front bar and the cinema space
The entrance to the venue does have steps. There is stair-free access to the cinema space around the back. If you require this, let us know and we'll coordinate with the venue to get you in
There are all-gender bathrooms near the cinema entrance
There is no dedicated quiet space, however if you do require an area to sit and relax away from people, or require any other support at the event, reach out to the team and we'll do our best to support you
You are welcome to come on your own or in a group. We have a friendly team who are always keen for a chat and we love to bring people together, if you want to meet other attendees.
At the end of the film, we move into the bar area and encourage people to stay and talk. This is absolutely optional - you can stay at the bar and choose not to speak with people and you may also choose to leave as soon as the film has finished.
The bar sells alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks (including alcohol free cocktails and beer and soft drinks). While no one has to buy a drink, we do encourage people to do so if you can, to help support them and keep independent venues running.
The bar usually sell food however they are having a management-handover at the moment and we are not sure if food will be available at this screening. If not, there are restaurants in the area. Food may be eaten in the bar but not in the cinema (except for popcorn)
Enviro Film Club is a casual get-together, with the aim of watching a wide range of environmental films and then chatting about them afterwards.
The Film Club has been set up by local Naarm volunteer group Environmental Films Australia, as a way to enjoy an eclectic mix of films and connect with people in a more relaxed setting than a formal film festival.
The Enviro Film Club will watch a wide range of films including documentaries, shorts, experimental films and even some Hollywood retrospectives!
Environmental Film Australia
Environmental Films Australia is a volunteer-run arts charity that promotes action through cinema, community and connection.
We prioritise climate and environments through film, provide platforms for artists to showcase their work, and create space for people to connect and exchange solutions.
We have been running since 2010 and have screened films around Australia. We run our own events and festivals, partner with other organisations and groups and offer curation services, so anyone that wants to run an environmental film screening can!
Previously known as Environmental Film Festival Australia.
