Featuring original statues, frescoes and everyday objects from the humblest to the most sumptuous, this Melbourne-exclusive exhibition explores Rome’s political, cultural and social life.

From the fall of Julius Caesar to the the power and ambition of an Empire, explore Ancient Rome through more than 180 objects dating from the 1st to 3rd centuries CE, all on display in Melbourne for the first time.

Complete your visit with Roman-inspired dining at Brunetti Classico, now open at Melbourne Museum, and discover the exclusive ROME: Empire, Power, People retail range, featuring handcrafted pieces by local and Italian makers. Exhibition tickets also include general admission to Melbourne Museum.

Designed by Museums Victoria and developed in collaboration with Contemporanea Progetti and curators Dr Federica Rinaldi, Dr Sara Colantonio and Dr Carlotta Caruso from Museo Nazionale Romano, the exhibition draws on the extraordinary collections of the Museo Nazionale Romano and the Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Firenze.
